About Me

I’m a 3rd generation New Zealander with familial links to Ireland and the UK. I live with my husband of 20+ years (can it really be that long?), our three teenage children and a mischievous miniature Schnauzer in the beautiful Mahurangi, one hour north of Auckland.

As a fully trained and registered Marriage & Funeral Celebrant, I don’t subscribe to the ‘cut & paste’ style of ceremony. I really listen to you, so that as a team we can prepare a ceremony that remains mindful of what you want… rather than what the celebrant thinks you should have! Working with me, you know you will get a ceremony that is uniquely yours and reflects that special ‘something’ that makes you who you are – your creativity, your humour, your beliefs and your culture.

For some, finding a Celebrant is the final piece in an intricately planned and well thought out puzzle because they know exactly what they want, but for many using a celebrant and planning a ceremony of any kind is new territory. They’re looking for helpful suggestions, resources, guidance, professional knowledge and someone who will draw them out and listen to their ideas. A good celebrant can be a wonderful source of reassurance and professional advice during often stressful situations.

I bring to this work a warm, friendly, relaxed manner, which combined with my professional knowledge, helps those around me stay calm and relaxed. With 20 + years experience of living & working both internationally and at home in New Zealand with people from different cultures and faiths, I am enthusiastic, open and flexible about using your creative ideas, faith and cultural traditions in a ceremony.

I am well organised and pay careful attention to details (without being pedantic) and have strong people skills. I am a competent, well prepared public speaker who, when it’s appropriate, uses humour well. I am always well-presented and will consult with you when choosing my attire for your ceremony, to ensure I am dressed in keeping with your dress code.

I have a broad and comprehensive resource kit which includes some great suggestions around readings, music and symbolism in your ceremony.

I consider it a real honour and privilege, in my role as wedding and funeral Celebrant, to walk alongside and support families as they cope with the emotions and challenges that can arise during times of great joy and sadness.
